Welcome to the Victorian Floor Tile Page!
"Geometric floor tiles are a part of Britain's heritage and were used originally to ornament medieval churches and monasteries, and the homes of the aristocracy. Their popularity was enhanced in the 1830's when the young Queen Victoria came to the throne, and they soon became one of the hallmarks of the new Romantic Movement" -Original Style Brochure.

We love period design here at City Ceramics and Geometric Floor Tiling is the jewel in the crown for us. The designing, setting out and laying of these exquisitely intricate patterns is not a job for the faint hearted. Luckily our excellent Contracts Team has the talent, skill and experience required to be able to rise to this highest of tiling challenges.

The fashion of Geometric Flooring continued into the Edwardian Period and there are even patterns to suit the stunning architecture of the Art Deco Movement. Of course, back in the day it would've been essential for owners of older properties to "Keep Up With The Jones'" so its not unusual to see an original Victorian floor in a Georgian home.

We work with two excellent British manufacturers, Original Style and Olde English Tile Company to perfectly re-create the beauty and grandeur of the period in your home.
